the "conquering complex"
Before I left for the mountains, me and my boys hit up the rock climbing gym so they could just be boys. Boys like to climb things...it helps with the whole conquering complex (and I get a decent nap by the end of it all).
too much of a good thing
It's been a busy summer full of weddings, heavy traveling and long hours in the editing room...so I'm heading to the mountains to re-establish balance in my physical being, mental being and most importantly, my spiritual being before I hit it hard again in August. See, I love photography...and I don't want to end up hating it.
My boys and I were at Pei Wei last night for dinner enjoying their killer orange chicken. While Harrison (5 yrs old) was using his chop sticks he couldn't quite understand that grabbing on too tight was causing him to loose his grip on his chicken. And that's when I shared with him that if you hold on to a good thing too tightly you often end up losing it. So he backed off his grip and enjoyed his dinner. I sat there thinking about what I just said and wondered if I was applying that to the good people and good things in my life. It's easy to get burned out doing what you love if you grip it too tight...so to the mountains of Colorado for a week it is so I don't go crazy!
P.S. You should do the same ;)

Fine Print: I should still be available via email throughout the week if I have connectivity. Although my iPhone has become permanently attached to my left hand, I would like to use it as little as possible while on my getaway. I will respond to any emails as soon as possible and will resume producing your great images when I return. And for all you blogstalkers, I will be Twittering daily and resume blogging more weddings upon my return ;)misfits
The next Misfits meeting is Monday July 30th at Chuy's in Dallas...no better way to get back into it other than fine Tex-Mex dining. 8PM-and tell everyone you know cause I will not be sending emails out this time :( But if you spread the word this shouldnt be a problem-see you guys then!
Just leave a comment if you plan on coming so I can get an approximate head count...all crazy wedding/portrait photographers welcome.
brad + marybeth
Thanks for all your patience while I've been busy shooting, editing and retouching weddings for the last 6 weeks.
Brad and Marybeth tied the knot in June with a beautiful wedding in Dallas. Her father married them in their home church before they took off in their classic Chevy Camaro to Canada.
...and I'm spent.
...and been MIA on my blog. I've tried to update my Twitter often in the meantime. I just got home, clothes are everywhere and boy am I tired! I'll be catching up on blogging soon and I can't wait to share several weddings with you, including the awesome wedding I photographed in SoCal this last Saturday, a photoshoot of me by the insanely talented Nick Onken and lastly, my shoot of Jasmine Star (Bludomain's Photographer of the Year) Until then, be sure to listen to Cary Brothers' new album, Who You Are, on iTunes...he's my new favorite singer/songwriter and I'm sure you'll dig him too!

do you twitter?
...that is the question. In a world of instant information, constant contact, thousands of acquaintances yet few confidants, Twitter emerges. I think I just added to the voyeuristic cancer that plagues American society by displaying my Twitters on the left. Enjoy...if you're into that sort of thing.
most viewed blogs | BluDomain
A couple of days ago it was business as usual surfing Blu's blog when I stumbled upon Kailee's own "Most Read Blogs" list. As I perused the list, it was no surprise I already had most of them bookmarked but then I realized the last one was mine! What a pleasant surprise :)
I just wanted to extend a huge thanks to Kailee from BluDomain for including my blog on her list (even though it is just her opinion). Shocked...humbled...grateful...just a few words that come to mind when mentioned in the company of some of my very talented friends in this biz. Of course, I want to thank ALL of you who drop in to check up on me and my work. And lastly, I have a new love for Kailee-XOXO.
That is all for today.
